SouthPlains.com exists because the South Plains deserve more than a fuel stop on the way somewhere else. It is an independent travel guide to Lubbock, the Llano Estacado and the canyons, towns and highways around them — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there.
What we cover
- How to reach Lubbock by air and by road, with realistic driving times.
- What to see — music heritage, museums, wine country, canyons, wildlife and Route 66 — and how to see it well.
- When to come, and what the famous wind, heat and storms really mean for your trip.
- Where to stay in Lubbock, Amarillo and Canyon.
- Which bookable experiences are worth adding on the road in and out — ranked honestly.
How we research
Opening arrangements, driving times and prices are checked against official sources — museums, Texas Parks and Wildlife, airlines, booking platforms — and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide. Where a figure moves around, such as entry fees or seasonal hours, we give a range and tell you to check, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.
We also tell you what is not available. GetYourGuide currently has no bookable tours in Lubbock itself, so we say so and recommend real experiences on the surrounding road trips instead of inventing any.
How the site is funded
We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There is no advertising, no sponsored content and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
Hours change, hotels change hands, roads close. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us on the contact page — we would rather fix it than defend it.
